Artist's Comments

Just messing around with some things i'm trying to learn. I like reggae.

start soapbox

I guess for this picture, as I think about it more, I was trying to show that there is a lot that goes into the music of a people. In Jamaica, for example, reggae was born out of political struggle and a longing to be free of oppression, both politically, but also culturally and individually. I think it has a lot of truth in it and it is a really genuine genre of music (at least reggae that isn't very pop-y) and the artists producing it are really struggling to say somethign with their music, unlike a lot of pop music produced today for the sole purpose of selling a record.

I love the choice of colors and how the colors blend into eachother. Also the collage of all the different things in black is very stylized.

this is a really awesome piece, the background looks good and the center is really neat with the person, tree, guitar, and lion. Nice, unique, composition - great work!
